Why Some Are Happy And Some Aren’t

by Healthy Wealthy nWise

Marci Shimoff, one of the most successful self-help book authors for women, is the author of “Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul”, “Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul”, “Happy for No Reason”, and is a contributing author of the highly successful book, “The Secret”.

Aside from her impressive writing career, Marci has been made famous by her appearances in other types of media. She has appeared on more than 500 shows for radio and television, she has been featured in more than 100 newspapers, and her articles have been featured in popular women’s magazines including “Ladies’ Home Journal” and “Woman’s World”.

So interested is Marci Shimoff in the development and motivation of others that she helped found the Transformational Leadership Council, on which she also serves as a board member. The council helps over 10 million people in the world of self-development.

Marci has known since the 1970’s that she wanted to be a professional speaker. Back then, no one had ever heard of such a career. Who talks as a profession anyway? The doubts of others didn’t stop Marci from pursuing her passion, though. Even her parents supported her and told her to do whatever would make her happy.

To Marci Shimoff, success and happiness aren’t the same thing. There are lots of highly successful people in the world, people with millions of dollars in net worth, but they aren’t truly fulfilled. Being successful isn’t what makes them tick.

Have you ever stopped to notice how many rich people are using their money for the betterment of others? Sure, they may have a magnificent estate, a fancy car, a jet, or a number of other luxury items, but those things are just that: things. They can be destroyed by wind, water, and fire, and they don’t return love.

The “Forbes Wealthiest People in America” list says that wealthy people are 40% less happy than average Americans. Does that statistic surprise you? Marci wrote “Happy for No Reason” to help people see the bigger pictures. Money isn’t the answer just as success isn’t the answer.

“I’ll be happy when…” is obviously not the answer, either. I’m sure we’ve all been down that path many times before. I’ll be happy when I lose 20 lbs? No, because losing 20 lbs means you have to spend money on new clothes, and spending money on new clothes means there is less money in your budget. Less money means more stress, so are you really going to be happy when you lose 20 lbs? No! People who are happy are only happy because they’re completely content with the life they currently live. They’re happy for “no reason at all”.
