If you have had a faulty memory occasionally or even often, you’re not alone. Many people do. Perhaps you have driven home from the store, only to remember something that you should’ve gotten but didn’t. Or perhaps you’ve forgotten important dates, such as anniversaries or birthdays.

However, take heart, because you can improve your memory so that these types of things won’t happen. There are a few easy training techniques that you can use to make dramatic improvements in your memory so that you never have to worry about forgetting things again.

When it comes to memory, there are a variety of categories. Some of these categories include remember lists and facts, remembering events and dates, and names and faces. There are various strategies that can help you with memory improvement in each of these different memory areas.

If your one of these people that can never remember someones name there are several techniques that you can use. The most commonly used one by people around the world is to associate a rhyme with their name. For example, if your out at a party and get introduced to a new person named Tony. The first thing you want to do is make sure you repeat their name once or twice in conversation. “Hi Tony, pleased to meet you.” This will help to confirm their name in your short term memory.

To help lock this name into your long term memory the next thing you do is associate it with a rhyme of some sort. e.g. Tony the pony. Now every time you see that person for the rest of the night repeat to yourself in your mind “tony the pony” and start to imagine that person as a pony. Once you’ve got this locked into your mind it’s vertually impossible to forget. Improvement of your memory really is that simple.

Sometimes it can help to match the rhyme you think of with a common feature about their appearance. This can help remember the name for the long-term as well.

Yet another type of technique for memory improvement is to make up a sentence to help remember a list. Also you can work on remembering the first letters in the list as well to help remember it. When you do this it can help to make your memory remember the entire list. So, if you are going shopping and you have several things on a list, here is a way to remember what’s on the list.

Lollipops Bread Chocolate Apples Ketchup

Your list becomes like so:

B read
L ollies
A pples
C hocolate
K etchup

Now from the first letters in this case it spells Black. Now all you have to do is remember Black and when you get to the supermarket it will help you to know there were 5 things and they started with B L A C K.

So, if you are working on memory improvement, use these simple tips and techniques to make sure that you improve your memory over time. No doubt you’ll soon notice a big difference.
