Dream Journals and Astral Projection

by Rosalind Traycek

Most people have had several astral projections in their lifetime, however they will only be remembered as dreams. It is more than likely that some of your extremely realistic dreams actually entail you going on an astral journey, also known as an out of body experience.

The best way to learn how to astral project is to keep a dream journal or diary. We cannot begin to understand dreams until we begin to remember them. One of the most effective in interesting ways to achieve this is to keep dream diary.

I find it is best to have a notebook or pad by my bed at all times, this notepad is used only to record my dreams in and never leaves my bedside. No matter what time of the night I wake up at I can record my dreams straightaway and not risk losing them while I am looking for a pen and paper.

Before you get out of bed in the morning, you should close your eyes and try to remember the dreams you had during the night. As your dreams made up of a series of images, you will be able to trigger the entire series just by remembering one single image. Remembering how you are feeling during a dream can also help and is very important to note in your dream diary.

It is very important that you write in your dream diary first thing in the morning before you do anything else. Include all the detail you can remember, regardless of whether you think it is relevant, and even if it doesn’t make sense. I also recommend that you write in the present tense as this makes the dreams seem more realistic. Begin by writing down the basic themes and your feelings during the dream, then you can add the specifics later.

The longer you keep the dream diary, the more you’ll be able to make associations. Do certain objects make a regular appearance? Do you have a certain type of dream in times of stress? Can you spot patterns?

If you really want to learn how to control your astral projections, keeping track of your dreams is the best way to do this. Having control over your out of body experiences is not something that you will gain straight away, but if you practise and keep thorough records it will happen.

Dreams use a language of metaphor and symbol to convey their meaning. Sometimes the symbol may be fairly straightforward, but other times it could be completely baffling. The exact significance of a dream symbol is specific to each individual and his or her own experiences. To gain control over your out of body experiences you must learn to interpret your dream language.
