If you suffer from astigmatism and thought that you were doomed to wearing boring old glasses for the rest of your life, then you probably have not been introduced to toric contact lenses. Toric contacts are made to fit precisely on your eyes and therefore reducing the blurred vision that you would normally get from wearing normal contacts. Today however, you can even change the color of your eyes with colored toric contacts. These lenses are made from the same material as normal lenses and come either in soft or rigid gas permeable type. The colors available range from blue to violet and any shades in between that you can think of. If you would like to add a little spice to your Halloween costume this year, don’t let astigmatism stop you. In fact you can get colored toric lenses that look like cats’ eyes or any monster like creature that you can think of to make you look your scary best.
Choice Of Lenses
There are two kinds of colored toric lenses. Some that have to be removed every day before you go to bed and will last you around a year as long as you keep up with the cleaning routine and those that you can wear for around a week without removing them from your eyes. At the end of the seven day period, they are usually tossed out and a new pair worn. Their life can be prolonged to around two weeks if you are willing to go through the clean and store routine on a daily basis.
Choose Your Color
Today, colored toric lenses come in a huge variety of colors that should appeal to even the fussiest person but just in case you cannot find one to your liking, you can even have your lenses custom made. With the price of normal toric lenses being around $120.00 you can expect to pay quite a bit more for custom made ones.
Ask Your Eye Doctor
The first thing that you should do if you were interested in colored toric lenses is to contact an eye doctor or eye specialist to discuss the option. You must also be aware that these lenses are probably going to be more expensive than regular toric contacts and that there is the odd chance that your eyes might not be suited to colored lenses. However if you are very keen to change the color of you eyes, paying a visit to you eye doctor will be well worth it in the end.
Where To Buy
Buying colored toric lenses online has never been easier. All you need is your prescription and you can order them online as you would with normal contact lenses from several online distributors. Nowadays, these contact lenses can be made precisely to fit any astigmatic patient. The waiting period is usually between 2 to 4 weeks so it pays to plan ahead.
Are Colored Toric lenses Dangerous?
Wearing colored toric lenses is not unlike wearing normal contact lenses for that matter. As with any contact lenses, a strict cleaning and storing regime must be followed if you want your eyes to stay infection free and to be able to enjoy clear vision for a long time to come. You should also try to limit the number of hours that the contact are worn to around 10 hours and never go to bed without taking them off. Follow these simple steps and you should not have any troubles at all.
